Christopher M. Ludeau, Sr. was born and raised in Ville Platte, Louisiana and is a partner in Fontenot & Ludeau, LLC. He earned a B.A. from Louisiana State University, in Baton Rouge, LA, where he majored in political science with minors in History and Cajun French.
Chris attended law school at Louisiana State University, graduating cum laude. During law school, he was Vice President of the Moot Court Board and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. After law school, Chris was employed with two of the most respected insurance defense firms in the Lafayette/Acadiana region. During his time in the defense industry, Chris defended against serious personal injury and wrongful death cases arising from maritime/offshore accidents, trucking/18-wheeler accidents, automobile accidents, onshore/industrial accidents, and premises defects. He also worked in the workers compensation arena defending employer insurance companies against the claims of employees seeking compensation benefits.
However, after several years in the defense industry, Chris realized that his calling was no longer defending corporate entities with deep pockets that were willing to attach meaningless numbers and values to faceless plaintiffs. Instead, Chris' true passion was to represent the hardworking individuals of Louisiana who make this state so remarkably special and unforgettable. Chris witnessed too many people ignored by insurance companies, as if they did not deserve a day in court and their just compensation. Furthermore, Chris noticed an alarming rate of plaintiffs who had worthy cases, but poor representation through ineffective counsel. As such, Chris met with close friends and family and, after careful consideration, decided it was best to leave the safety net of insurance company paychecks and risk it all helping to represent the proud individuals who make up the great state of Louisiana.
In 2014, Chris was awarded the Lafayette Volunteer Lawyer's Outstanding Attorney Award for his pro bono efforts in the Lafayette community. The Outstanding Attorney Award is bestowed upon those attorneys willing to volunteer their time and effort in order to represent underprivileged clients in family law matters at no charge or cost. It was during his time working with these pro bono clients that Chris truly realized his calling to represent those who could not adequately represent themselves.
From 2015 to 2018, Chris has been recognized by Louisiana Super Lawyers Magazine as a "Rising Star" in the field of general litigation. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state are selected to receive this honor. In 2016 and 2017, Chris was also named a "Top 40 Under 40" Attorney by The National Trial Lawyers Association. Membership to Top 40 Under 40 is extended solely to a select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, trial results, reputation, influence, stature and a strong public profile.
Chris currently serves as Assistant District Attorney for the 13th Judicial District Court, Evangeline Parish. He is also the former city attorney for the Village of Parks, Louisiana. Chris' professional associations include the Louisiana House of Delegates, Louisiana Bar Association, Evangeline Parish Bar Association and the Lafayette Parish Bar Association.
He resides in Ville Platte with his wife, Erin, their two children, Chris Jr. and Jolie, and their dog, Clarence.
